(TUMON, GU) Nov. 11, 2009 – In an effort to help raise money for local schools, SUBWAY® Guam has joined the franchise’s national Subway School Rewards™ program, which allows customers to send a percentage of everything they spend to the local school of their choice.

Subway School Rewards™, a free program for customers and schools who register to participate, is a “win-win” for everyone, said Marcos Fong, managing director of Subway Pacific.

“We all want to help our local schools, and right now it’s more important than ever that we give our teachers the resources they need to enrich the learning experiences of our students,” Fong said. “The Subway School Rewards™ program allows us to give to schools using the money we would spend every day for a healthy lunch or dinner.”

Here’s how the program works:

1. Local school principals or administrators register their school online at www.schoolpax.org.
2. Once the school of their choice is enrolled, customers obtain a SUBWAY® Cash Card at any SUBWAY® restaurant on Guam.
3. Customers visit www.SubwaySchoolRewards.com, and link their SUBWAY® Cash Card to their chosen school.
4. Customers visit any SUBWAY® restaurant, load cash onto their SUBWAY® card and use it to pay for their meal.
5. A percentage of everything they spend will be set aside for their school.

“We’ve been looking for an opportunity to help like this for a long time and look forward to helping schools meet and exceed their fundraising goals,” Fong said. “It’s a way for parents to help their children, all while eating healthy.”

To help make registering online easier for customers, SUBWAY® has organized a series of registration drives at select restaurants. Employees will be on hand with laptops to help customers register their cards online. Anyone who loads at least $10 on their card during the drives will receive a FREE cookie.

Parents, students and school supporters are encouraged to attend. Drives have been scheduled on the following dates and locations:
• Friday, Nov. 13 from 5-8 p.m. – SUBWAY® Barrigada
• Thursday, Nov. 19 from 5-8 p.m. – SUBWAY® Tamuning
• Saturday, Dec. 5 from 1-4 p.m. – SUBWAY® GPO

All money allocated for schools will automatically be sent directly to each facility once a year, or whenever requested by the school. Funds can be spent on whatever the schools deems appropriate.
